Silke Spiegelburg ( born March 17, 1986 in Georgsmarienhütte ) is a German pole vaulter.

Life and career

Silke Spiegelburg has a competition weight of 61 kg at a height of 1.73 m. Until 2005, she served on the club TV Lengerich, since it starts for TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. She is coached by Leszek air and her father Ansgar Mirror Castle. Her three brothers are the pole vaulter Henrik, and Richard Christian Mirror Castle.

Mirror Castle won the gold medal at the World Youth Championships in Debrecen in 2001 and at the European Junior Championships in 2003 in Tampere. At 18, she qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and took there the 13th Place. In 2005, she became German champion, won in the same year at the European Junior Championships in Kaunas again gold and broke on 26 August 2005 in Münster with 4.48 m the junior world record of Yelena Isinbayeva.

At the World Indoor Championships in Moscow in 2006 mirror castle was eighth, defended her national title and finished sixth at the European Championships 2006 in Gothenburg. In 2007, she was again German champion, but failed at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka in the final to the initial height.

On 11 July 2008 Mirror Castle presented at the Golden League meeting in Rome with a 4.70m personal best. Shortly thereafter, she was nominated for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where she finished in seventh place with 4.65 m. At the end of the 2008 season, she won the IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart athletics, where she crossed 4.70m again. At the World Championships in Berlin in 2009 they finished fourth, while with 4.65 m the same height jumped as the two runners-up Monika Pyrek (Poland) and Chelsea Johnson (USA), this, however, required a more experimental. At the European Indoor Championships 2009 in Turin they improved the German indoor record by four centimeters to 4.75 m and won the silver medal. On 26 June 2010 she improved her best performance by one centimeter to 4.71 meters. A short time later, she became German champion again and a month later second in the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona. A further improvement in the hall she succeeded in 2011 when Hall Meeting in Karlsruhe, as she mastered 4.76 m.

At the German Championships 2012 in Bochum- it was 4.70 m German champion. At the European Championships 2012 in Helsinki, it was with a height of 4.50 m fourth. On July 20, 2012, she won the Diamond League meeting in jumping while Monaco and set with 4.82 m skipped a new German record. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London was only the fourth place for them. On September 7, 2012, she won the final of the Diamond League in Brussels with skipped 4.75 m and thus won as of 2011, the overall rating of the series.

At the World Championships 2013 in Moscow, she was 4.75 m as already at the European Championships and Olympic Games Fourth. As early as 2012 she won the prize of U.S. $ 40,000 Rating Diamond League.
