Siltepec Municipio is in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas. The municipality is located in the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. The name of this place comes from Nahuatl and means " the mountain of the little worm ."

The municipality has about 38,000 inhabitants and an area of 879.1 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is the same Siltepec.

In the municipality are part of nature reserves Reserve of the Biosphere " El Triunfo " and Zona Sujeta a Conservación Ecológica " Pico El Loro El Paxtal ".

The municipality borders the Municipalities Siltepec Ángel Albino Corzo, Chicomuselo, Bella Vista, La Grandeza, El Porvenir, Motozintla, Escuintla, Acacoyagua and Mapastepec.
