Catfish ( Silurus glanis )

The Real catfish ( Siluridae ) are a family of fish that occurs in fresh waters in Eastern Europe and in Asia, with the exception of Siberia and the Arabian Peninsula. Two species, the European catfish ( Silurus glanis ) and the Aristotle catfish ( Silurus aristotelis ), living in Europe.

Features

True catfish have a scaleless, naked skin. The head is flattened, the mouth wide. In the upper jaw there is a pair of barbels on the lower jaw from one to two. The dorsal fin is small or absent. You will, if available, supported by less than seven fin rays. A fin spines never happens. An adipose fin is absent. The anal fin is long, is supported 41-110 fin rays and is grown in the genus Silurichthys with the tail fin. True catfish have two pairs of barbels on the lower jaw and a, usually very long at the maxilla.

They are, depending on the type, eight inches to three feet long. The glass catfish ( genus Kryptopterus ) are more or less translucent.
