Silver-oxide battery
Silver oxide -zinc cells are primary cells that are in the form of button cells on the market.
The negative pole of a silver -zinc cell comprises zinc powder, which is oxidized in the course of discharge. The positive pole is made of silver (I ) oxide, which is reduced to elemental silver upon discharging. Dilute potassium hydroxide solution as the electrolyte is used. The rated voltage of such a cell is about 1.55 V. In addition to zinc hydroxide formed by reaction with the electrolyte, also potassium zincate (K2 [Zn (OH ) 4] ).

Traditional silver oxide -zinc cells can not be recharged. They therefore belong to the primary cells. While charging, the electrolyte would decompose, resulting usually destroy the battery.
