Silberpermanganat is an inorganic chemical compound of the silver from the group of permanganates.
Production and representation
Silberpermanganat can be obtained by reaction of a solution of silver nitrate with potassium permanganate at 80 ° C.
Properties
Silberpermanganat is a light-sensitive violet to black solid with metallic luster, needle-shaped crystals which is soluble in water. It decomposes on heating above 160 ° C or by prolonged storage. It has a monoclinic crystal structure with space group P21 / n ( a = 567 pm, b = 827 pm, c = 713 pm, ß = 92.5 °).
Use
Silberpermanganat is used in gas masks and as an antiseptic.
