Silverstein (band)

Silverstein (English pronounced " Silver Steen " ) is a company incorporated in 2000, Canadian post-hardcore band from Burlington ( Ontario). The name took over the band of the late shortly before the band was formed author Shel Silverstein. In 2006 they were the opening act for Simple Plan on their Germany tour. Besides, they had in 2007, 2008 and 2011 an appearance at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park and two other tours throughout Germany and Europe where they were headlining. In the preliminary program Forever Today played from Germany. From November to December 2009, Silverstein toured as the opening act of the Canadian rock band Billy Talent also by Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

History

Silverstein was founded by Shane Told, Richard McWalter, Bill Hamilton, Paul Koehler and Josh Bradford in Burlington, Ontario in 2000.

In the first year of its existence, the band took on their own on their first EP. Richard McWalter Shortly thereafter left the band and was replaced by Neil Boshart.

Two years later they released their second EP, which gave them a recording contract with the label Victory Records, which released the first album "When Broken Is Easily Fixed" in May 2003. There were a few tours with other bands such as As I Lay Dying or Hawthorne Heights.

Their second album, " Discovering The Waterfront" they recorded directed by Cameron Webb in 2005.

Then there were other tours like the Never Sleep Again tour with Hawthorne Heights, Bayside and Aiden, but met a tragic, premature end, as John ' Beatz ' Holohan, drummer of Bayside, in a car accident was killed.

After three month break, they began work on their next album, " Arrivals & Departures ", which was released in early July 2007 in the stores.

She also appeared in 2007 with an acoustic version of " Red Light Pledge" on the project ' Punk Goes Acoustic 2', in which bands like 44 or anti-flag are represented.

Also they had in 2009 with a cover of " Apologize" ( OneRepublic ) on the project Punk Goes Pop II.

On 31 March 2009 her fourth studio album "A Shipwreck in the Sand " was released internationally.

On April 26, 2011, they released their next studio album " Rescue". Shane commented that the music will be a mixture between "Discovering The Waterfront " and "A Shipwreck in the Sand ."

The sixth studio album " Short Songs " was released on 10 February 2012.

In September 2012, the band announced that guitarist Neil Boshart was no longer part of Silverstein. His partner takes over for Paul Marc Rousseau, a good and longtime friend of the band.

On November 26, 2012, the seventh studio album "This Is How The Wind Shifts " of Canadians was announced. This will also be a concept album as " A Shipwreck In The Sand " was about it. On the same day, namely "Stand Amid The Roar ", and an album trailer still was the first title of the album, released. Previously, a teaser website was published that showed the announcement date.

Style

Silverstein see themselves as a band influenced by many styles of music, which was founded with the aim to play a music between Emo, Hardcore and Metal. In terms of their debut album "When Broken Is Easily Fixed" they dub their style as " the new, different style of post-hardcore and screamo ". The follow-up album, " Discovering the Waterfront" is going by Silverstein as more towards Metal, but also described with pop elements work, full.
