Silvestro Durante

Silvestro Durante (* in the 17th century, † 1672) was an Italian church musician and composer of the 17th century.

Durante is regarded as a pupil of the composer Giacomo Carissimi, was from 1645 to 1662 conductor of the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere in Rome, but was called in December 1637 " Maestro " of the church music of the basilica. Also in 1664, he is still named as maestro di cappella

Durante's works have survived, among other things in the Duben Collection of the Uppsala University Library.
