Silvia Schenker

Silvia Schenker ( born January 17, 1954 in Aarau home right in Aarburg and Heimiswil ) is a Swiss politician (SP).

Life

Schenker attended schools in Grenchen, Arlesheim and Aesch and completed from 1970 to 1972 a commercial apprenticeship at Swiss Bank Corporation. From 1977 to 1979 she worked as a commercial employee Ciba -Geigy. After a abgeschlossenenen on second-chance education federal graduation, she studied from 1982 to 1985 a few semesters economics and history at the University of Basel. From 1989 to 1993 she trained as a social worker at the Higher Technical School of Social Work, where she graduated with a diploma. After that she worked as a social worker at the Felix Platter Hospital in Basel, then from 1995 to 2011 at the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel. Since May 2011 she has worked as a social worker in the guardianship authority of Basel-Stadt.

Schenker is divorced, has three children and lives in Basel.

Policy

From March 1995 to January 2004 was Schenker at the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. From 1997 to 2001 she was president of the VPOD Basel. From 2001 to 2004 she headed the SP Group in the Grand Council. Since the 2003 elections, it is the National Council. It belongs to the Commission on Social Security and Health ( SGK ) and the State Policy Committee ( SPC).

From September 2006 to October 2008 she was Vice -President of the SP Switzerland. Since November 2006 she has been President of the Swiss leagues Health Conference ( Geliko ).
