Silvio Vietta

Silvio Vietta ( * 1941 in Berlin) is a literary scholar and professor emeritus. at the University of Hildesheim. His research focuses on German literature, philosophy and European cultural history. Main fields of research in the literature are of Expressionism, early Romanticism, Modernism. Vietta published on Heidegger and Hans -Georg Gadamer. Both he knew personally. With Gadamer 2001, he led the last interview, published ( 2002). Recent research devoted to the European cultural history and in particular the rationality as the motor of European history and today's globalization.

Biography

Silvio Vietta is the son of Egon Vietta and Dorothea, born Feldhaus. The correspondence between Egon Vietta and Hermann Broch edited Vietta 2012 together with the Italian scientist Roberto Rizzo. After studying German literature, philosophy, English and Education in 1970 by the PhD at the University of Würzburg on language and language reflection in modern poetry. Vietta began his professional career as a Lecturer at Elmira College / USA. 1981 Vietta habilitation of Modern German Philology at the University of Mannheim with a thesis on Neuzeitliche rationality and modern literary criticism of language and taught at the Universities of Heidelberg, Tübingen, Mannheim and Hildesheim. In Hildesheim Vietta has the diploma course " Culture Education" (today: Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice ) with built and shaped the Hildesheimer Cultural Studies sustainable. In 2006 he was Visiting Professor at the University of Moscow ( RGGU ), 2007 and 2008-09 at the University of Sassari, Italy, in 2012 a visiting professor at the University of Campinas in Brazil. Vietta is a member of the Advisory Board of " Angermion ", " Yearbook for Anglo- German cultural relations " and is a member of AVUR ( Agenzia National Valutazione Ricerca Universitaria ) in Italy, and a member of the International Association of German studies. Vietta is father of two children: Isabel (* 1974) and Claudio (b. 1979).

Theory

Vietta specializes in the macro - era research field. He has published seminal works on this era of Expressionism, to early Romanticism, literary and aesthetic modernity. The work of the Romantic poet Wilhelm Heinrich Wackenroder he has co-edited with Richard Littlejohn's in a historical- critical edition (1991). A publication of 2012 entitled " texts on the poetry of " documents the history of European poetics of Plato and Aristotle through the Middle Ages, the modern era through to modern and postmodern. Vietta one of the founders of a new research line of European research ( " Europäistik " ) with studies of European cultural history, and more recently for rationality and justified in their European and global civilization.
