Silviu Lung

Silviu Lung ( born September 9, 1956 in Sanmiclaus ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. He played a total of 416 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A. Lung took part in the European Football Championship in 1984 and the Football World Cup 1990.

Career as a player

Silviu Lung was the son of a blacksmith, who moved with his family from Sanmiclaus to 15 km distant Carei 1957. As a student averaging was successful in various sports (handball, basketball, table tennis), but decided to pursue a footballer 's career. In 1971 he played in the youth team of Victoria Carei and has already brought the age of sixteen coach Constantin Ionescu in the first team, which contested the Divizia C. Lung was immediately goalkeeper and was discovered in one of the last championship game of the 1972/73 season, as the rise of Victoria Carei had already been decided in the Divizia B, Game of observers Coloman Braun-Bogdan. With Craiova Lung achieved the greatest success of his career: 1980 and 1981 he won the Romanian Cup in 1978 and 1983 the Romanian Cup. In the 1982/83 season averaging Craiova moved into the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup, retired from there but only on away goals against Benfica. In the summer of 1988 with Lungs former teammate Sorin Cârţu was brought a new coach who sought a restructuring of the team. Lung was cleared and then moved to Steaua Bucharest, one of the best European clubs of the time, after he had been assured by Defence Minister Ilie Ceauşescu that it should move abroad within two years. 1989 Steaua was Romanian Champion and reached the final of the European Champion Clubs' Cup, but it lost to clear the AC Milan.

In 1990 moved Lung - like many other strong Romanian player - abroad and joined CD Logroñés from La Liga on. Since he did not become a regular player, Lung returned in 1991 to return to Romania, played for Electro Craiova before it in the winter break 1992/93 again Universitatea Craiova joined and his career there end of October 1993 during the first half of the 1993/94 season ended. Career as a coach

After the end of his active career Lung began a career as a football coach and worked as an assistant coach of Universitatea Craiova at Marian Bondrea before he went in 1994 for a short time to Olympique Casablanca. Upon his return to Romania in 1995 he became an assistant coach at FC Naţional Bucharest and then moved to Minerul Motru in the Divizia C, where he managed to climb into the Divizia B. Despite a successful season averaging course left the club and returned in May 1997 for the last seven championship games of the 1996/97 season as a coach for Universitatea Craiova in order to then work for two seasons as an assistant coach. Upon termination of Ilie Balaci in September 1998 Lung jumped in as caretaker manager until the end of the first round and was replaced on 11 December 1998 by Marian Bondrea.

Following discussions with Doru Isac, a living since 1991 in Japan Romanian trainer, Lung went in 2000 to Japan and also supported Isac first as a youth coach at Nagoya Grampus Eight. After one and a half years, he joined the second round of the 2001 season as goalkeeper coach for the first team, which was initially trained by Tetsuro Miura, followed by Zdenko Verdenik. After his contract expired, he returned end of December 2002 back to Romania and started in January 2003 as a goalkeeper coach at Universitatea Craiova Sorin Cârţu. In the following two and a half years, he was temporarily out of the club as head coach since Nicolò Napoli ( January 2004-March 2004 ) and Eugen Neagoe ( May 2005-June 2005 ) did not possess the necessary coaching license. On 1 July 2005 Lung took the first descent of Universitatea Craiova in the second class as an opportunity to accept the offer of Minerul Motru and to train as a successor of Pavel Buburuz the meantime to the satellite team of Pandurii Târgu Jiu became second division team. On April 18, 2006 Lung broke his contract after disappointing results in the second half.

Already on 24 April 2006 took over the office of Lung goalkeeper coach of Universitatea Craiova at Gabriel Boldici. From July 2006 he accompanied Anghel Iordănescu as goalkeeper coach for Al Ain Club in the United Arab Emirates. After his release in November 2006, Lung returned to Romania and was on 10 January 2007 Goalkeeper coach Sorin Cârţu at relegation-threatened first division club FC Naţional Bucharest. In the summer of 2007, averaging tried unsuccessfully to move abroad again. After start of the season most teams had already hired a trainer and in the fall of 2007 his father was dead, sat averaging from half a year. On 5 February 2008, averaging assistant coach Ştefan Stoica at Gloria Buzău. After Stoica was released in August 2008, averaging released his contract on Gloria at end of September 2008 and signed on 1 October 2008 a contract as a goalkeeping coach at Pandurii Târgu Jiu, after he had been requested by the head coach Sorin Cârţu. This engagement ended in October 2009 and then took over Lung until the end of the year, the Office of the goalkeeper coach at Astra Ploieşti. From mid-March 2010 to mid-May 2010 Lung was again Goalkeeper coach Sorin Cârţu at Pandurii Târgu Jiu. In the summer of 2010, he returned for two months back as goalkeeper coach Aurel Ţicleanu Universitatea Craiova to. On 12 September 2010 he followed Sorin Cârţu as goalkeeper coach for the Romanian champions CFR Cluj. As Cârţu was released on 25 November 2010, CFR also sparked the contracts with the coaching staff, which consisted of Silviu Lung and Mircea Irimescu on. In January 2011, averaging was again goalkeeping coach under Nicolò Napoli at Universitatea Craiova and there replaced Gabriel Boldici. On 8 July 2011, he was succeeded by his son Tiberiu Lung at Universitatea. In August 2011, he returned as a goalkeeper coach Marius Şumudică to Astra Ploieşti. National

Silviu Lung played from 1979 to 1993 a total of 77 caps for the Romanian national football team. He made his debut in a 3-0 home win against Greece on March 21, 1979 to his country and was used in the next game, the European Championship qualifier against Spain, but came to illness until December 4, 1982 against world champions Italy for his third international game. Highlights of his career include appearances at the European Football Championship 1984 in France, when averaging in two games in goal, and participation in the World Cup in Italy in 1990, when he played in all four games.

Awards

On 25 March 2008 Lung was " sporty Meritul " III by Romanian President Traian Basescu for the achievements in the national team with the Order of Merit. Class excellent. He is Honored Master of Sports. 1984 Lung was Romania's Footballer of the Year. He is an honorary citizen of the city of Craiova.
