The Sim (Russian Сим; Bashkir Эҫем ) is a right tributary of the Belaya in the European part of Russia.

Description

The Sim springs on the west side of the southern Urals in the west of Chelyabinsk Oblast and flows first through a narrow and steep valley to the north. He reached the city Sim and turn shortly to the west. In Minjar the river Minjar opens a.

Wildlife and Ecology

The river and its surroundings offer numerous animal species habitat. In the river itself, there are numerous species of fish, including perch, pike, chub and tench. Amphibians, such as toads, bog and marsh frogs and reptiles such as the grass snake and various lizards use the river, its embankments or the marshes formed by it, alluvial forests and floodplains as a habitat or spawning ground.

Besides living on the Sim many bird species such as herons, ringed plover, reed warblers, oystercatchers, kingfishers and various stilts. For they form the dense riverine forests, the riparian vegetation, the river banks and the river itself nesting space and hunting grounds.

To those based on Sim mammals include various rodents, including muskrats and Burunduk, as well as European and American mink.

However, the sim is also one of the most polluted rivers in the Chelyabinsk Oblast. Waste water from the riverside villages and industrial load of the river as well as household waste that is thrown directly into the river or from one of the riverside landfill discharged into the river.
