Simeon ben Hillel

Simeon I († 9) or Shim'on ben Hillel ( שמעון בן הלל ) was a Jewish patriarch.

Simeon I was a direct descendant of King David. The patriarch was a Tannait, that is a teacher of the Mishnah, the first generation and prince of the Sanhedrin. After the death of his father Hillel in 9 Simeon I took over the office of patriarch. However, Simeon I. died in the same year. As Simeon I died, his son Gamaliel I, known as " the old man ", Patriarch.
