Simeon K. Wolfe

Simeon Kalfius Wolfe ( * February 14, 1824 in Georgetown, Floyd County, Indiana, † November 18, 1888 in New Albany, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Simeon Wolfe attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent law degree from Indiana University in Bloomington and its made ​​in 1850 admitted to the bar he began in Corydon to work in this profession. In this city he gave 1857-1865 out the newspaper " Corydon Democrat ". Politically, Wolfe was a member of the Democratic Party. From 1860 to 1864 he was a member of the Senate of Indiana. In 1860 he was a delegate to two Democratic National Conventions, which were held in Charleston and Baltimore. Since 1870, Wolfe lived in New Albany, where he continued to work as a lawyer.

In the congressional elections of 1872 he was in the second electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Michael C. Kerr on March 4, 1873. Since he resigned in 1874 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1875. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives Wolfe practiced as a lawyer again. Between 1880 and 1884 he served as a district judge in Floyd County and Clark County. He died on 18 November 1888 in New Albany, where he was also buried.
