Simon B. Kochen

Bernhard Simon Cook ( born August 14, 1934 in Antwerp) is an American mathematician who deals with number theory, logic ( model theory ) and quantum mechanics.

Cooking in 1958 received his doctorate from Princeton University in Alonzo Church ( Ultrafiltered Products and Arithmetical Extensions). He is in Princeton, where he is Henry Burchard Fine Professor of Mathematics since 1994 since 1967. 1989 to 1992 he was Chairman of the Department. 1966/7 and 1978/9 he was at the Institute for Advanced Study.

In 1967 he was awarded with James Ax the Cole Prize for number theory for their work from 1965 /66 on the solvability of polynomials in the p-adic numbers.

In 1967 he proved the cooking - Specker theorem in quantum mechanics. In 2004 he proved with John Horton Conway the " Free Will Theorem", which states clearly that if the experimenter even a slight form of free will (not predetermined behavior ) is present, this also applies to all elementary particles.
