Simon Baker (athlete)

Simon Baker ( Simon Francis Baker, born February 6, 1958 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian touring.

Im 20 km Walk he arrived at the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki on 29th place and at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 14th place

In 1986, he won at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in the 30 km walk. After a 24th place over 20 km at the World Cup 1987 in Rome, he was in a 50 km Walk and eleventh in the 20 km at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul Sixth walking. In each case he was seventh at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest in 1989 over 5000 m, walking and at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland over 30 km of walking.

At the World Cup in 1991 in Tokyo, he did not reach the target more than 50 km. About the same distance he won at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and 19th place at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, he was ranked 14th At the Commonwealth Games in 1994 in Victoria sixth over 30 km. He was disqualified at the 50 km Walk the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996.

Twice he was Australian champion in the 5000 m Walking ( 1988, 1989 ), twice in a 20 km Walk (1985, 1988) and once in the 50- km Walk (1989).
