Simon Collins

Simon Collins ( born September 14, 1976 in Hammersmith, London ) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, drummer and composer. He is the first son of musician Phil Collins.

Biography

At the age of five years, Collins learned with the help of his father to play the drums. Due to the separation of his parents three years later he moved with his mother to Canada, in the city of Vancouver. There, he honed his craft not only for the striking mechanism, but was suitable composing and singing to. In the following years he played in stylistically different bands.

In 1999, he starred in the TV documentary Summer Love on Canadian television. In the same year he took the German major label Warner Music under contract, which prompted him to move to Germany. With his first two singles Pride and Shine Through he reached the top 100 in the Media Control Charts. The latter single he co-wrote with Howard Jones. On the first single Pride took over father Phil Collins backing vocals.

The debut album All of Who You Are, on which there are both single hits, sold more than 100,000 copies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The third single Moneymaker flopped though.

In 2002, Simon Collins left Warner Music to produce his second album on its own. To this end, he founded the German producer and manager Andre Fedorov his own production company in Frankfurt am Main. Time for Truth was the second album and was released only in Canada and North America on Maple / Universal Music because of change of residence by Collins. The Singles Man on TV and Reason got there only moderate airplay and no chart positions. And as with the previous album, there were hardly any live concerts.

On the 40th anniversary of the rock group Genesis him covered their song Keep it Dark and put it for free download on the Internet. The mp3 was in the next 12 months downloaded over 200,000 times.

In the same year he produced with Kevin Churko his third album, U- Catastrophe, which was released in autumn 2008 at Razor & Tie / Sony BMG in America. The single from the album Unconditional reached # 12 on the adult contemporary charts and also successfully entered the Canadian Hot 100

Simon Collins operates among others, his own music label Lightyears Music and lays under the pseudonym " Head Space " at clubs in Canada and Germany.
