Simon Haskel, Baron Haskel

Simon Haskel, Baron Haskel ( born October 9, 1934) is a British peer and politician of the Labour Party.

Life

He was born in Lithuania as the only child of his parents, Isaac and Julia Haskel. He attended Sedbergh School and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science at Salford College of Advanced Technology. In 1961, he began his career as an engineer at the Perrot Ltd., whose chairman, he was from 1970 to 1989. In 1972 he was one of the founding members of the Labour Finance & Industry Group, the Labour Party politically advises on financial and economic issues from 1975 to 1995, he was its chairman.

On 4 October 1993 Simon Haskel got the title awarded " Baron Haskel of Higher Broughton in the County of Greater Manchester ." From 1994 he was a deputy of the Labour Party Member of the House of Lords. He worked in a number of committees primarily to industrial and scientific questions.

Family

Simon Haskel married in 1962 Carole Lewis, daughter of Wilbur Lewis. Together they have two children, born in 1963 the son of Jonathan Edward Haskel and born in 1965, daughter Lisa Frances Haskel.
