Simon Jurovsky

Šimon Jurovsky ( born February 8, 1912 in Ulmanka; † November 8, 1963 in Prague) was a Slovak composer.

Jurovsky studied 1931-1936 at the Music Academy Pressburg and was 1943-1944 student of Joseph Marx in Vienna }. He was until 1956 head of the music department of Radio Bratislava and then Head of Opera of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. He composed an opera, a ballet, two symphonies, an organ, a cello and a piano concerto, two orchestral suites, a Serenade for Strings, a symphonic poem, chamber works, two piano suites, cantatas, song cycles and folksong arrangements, theater and film scores.
