Simon Lake

Simon Lake ( born September 4, 1866 in Pleasantville, New Jersey, † June 23, 1945 in Milford, Connecticut) was an American mechanical engineer and marine engineers.

He received over two hundred patents in the field of shipbuilding and was next to John Philip Holland one of the first who built for the United States Navy submarines. In 1902 he invented the retractable periscope for submarines.
