Simon Nicol

Simon Nicol (born 13 October 1950 Muswell Hill, London Borough of Haringey ) is an English folk-rock singer, guitarist and dulcimer player.

1967 was one of the founding members Nicol from Fairport Convention, where he became the frontman after Richard Thompson's resignation in 1971. Nicol was down to short periods of time from 1972 to 1976, and since 1978 member of the band throughout. In the early 1970s he began to play in addition also at the Albion Country Band, or later at the Albion Band. Besides, he took with many folk performers plates, including Art Garfunkel, Al Stewart, John Martyn, Beth Nielson Chapman and Julie Covington, and went with Dave Swarbrick on tour.

In 1984, Nicols solo debut Close to the wind on the market, followed by Before Your Time ( 1986) and Consonant Please Carol (1992).
