Simon Plössl

Simon Plößl ( born September 19, 1794 in Vienna, † 29 January 1868 ) was an Austrian optician and optometrist had a workshop in Vienna since 1823. In 1835 he was awarded a gold medal at the Vienna Industrial Exhibition for his work.

Plößl presented in 1830 the first dialytic telescope ago. In the permanent collection of the Vienna University Observatory is a product manufactured by dialytisches Plössl telescope with about 10cm lens diameter and focal length of 1.25m. Since 1875, the Plößlgasse in Vienna is named in the municipality of Wieden after him.
