Simon Plouffe

Simon Plouffe ( born June 11, 1956 in Saint- Jovite, Quebec ) is a Canadian mathematician.

Plouffe discovered 1995, the BBP algorithm underlying formula ( the Bailey - Borwein - Plouffe formula) which allows the extraction of the n-th digit of the binary expansion of the circle number π. Plouffe is also co-author of the Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences ( Encyclopedia of integer sequences ), from 1995, a website was created ( On- Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences ). In 1996 Plouffe discovered an algorithm for the calculation of π in any bases. Plouffe 's inverter is a site that lists more than 200 million mathematical constants and makes it possible to find out the corresponding result of their first decimal digits the associated mathematical definition.
