Simon Shaw

Simon Dalton Shaw MBE ( born September 1, 1973 in Nairobi, Kenya ) is an English rugby union player. He plays as a second row forward for the English national team and the London Wasps.

Shaw was just 17 years old his debut for Bristol Rugby in the Guinness Premiership. It was first used in the national team in 1996. Previously they had nominated him in the squad for the 1995 World Cup, but he was unable to attend the tournament due to a knee injury. Since his debut, he is a regular formation of England and has been nominated twice for the British and Irish Lions. However, his career is provided with numerous injuries, so that he graduated despite his long career " only " 50 inserts for the national team.

In 2000, Shaw became the first second- row players in the history of English Championship a " drop goal ". In June 2001, he scored his only two attempts for England, both in the game against Canada. He was part of the England squad for the World Cup in 2003 and was able to celebrate the World Cup win at the end, but it was no use during the tournament. In the same year he was first father, followed by yet two more children.

In 2004 he was elected player of the year the English Championship. Thereupon he was also part of the Lions squad for the tour to New Zealand. Although he was no use against the New Zealand national team, but he played regularly in the unofficial games during the week and helped to remain unbeaten in those games.

In the season 2006/ 07 he celebrated his tenth season at the Wasps with the victory in the Heineken Cup. He was therefore appointed for the World Cup 2007, where he came in every game for use. In 2009 he was nominated by Ian McGeechan for the tour of the British and Irish Lions to South Africa, his third Lions tour.
