Simon Vroemen

Simon Vroemen ( born May 11, 1969 in Delft) is a Dutch steeplechaser.

Career

Vroemen holds the current European record with 8:04,95 min in the 3000 m steeplechase, ran in Brussels on 26 August 2005.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he finished in twelfth place, and at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002, he won the silver medal.

At the World Athletics Championships 2003 in Paris / Saint- Denis, he was seventh in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and sixth at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki fifth.

Early July 2008, after he meets the qualification standards for the Olympic Games in Beijing, announced that Vroemen was tested "positive" for the anabolic steroid hormone Methandrostenolone. Vroemen but was acquitted.

Simon Vroumen is 1.89 m tall and weighs 69 kg. He is a microbiologist and works as an engineer in the oil company Royal Dutch Shell. His residence was in Hamburg and now The Hague.
