Simon Wright (musician)

Simon Wright ( * June 19, 1963 in near Alden Manchester, United Kingdom ) is a British musician.

He also served as 1983-1990 drummer of Australian hard rock band AC / DC. He also played in the heavy metal band Dio.

Career

Wright was selected by Phil Rudd's exit at AC / DC from hundreds of applicants as the new drummer after he answered an ad " drummer wanted" in Melody Maker. His tour debut was on the flick -of -the- switch - tour, which from October to December 1983 by the United States.

He played for AC / DC Sonor Phonic Plus Drums.

In early 1990 came the departure of Wright at AC / DC, which he then immediately sat down at the drums Dio. The band was temporarily disbanded shortly thereafter by Ronnie James Dio.

Later, Wright got in at the U.S. band Rhino Bucket, which plays a similar AC / DC style.

He was then engaged in UFO as a drummer, playing there until 1998. This year UFO sparked again and Wright came to Dio, where he remained until they disbanded in 2010.

At the moment he is touring as the drummer for the solo band of ex- Judas Priest and Iced Earth singer Tim Owens. He played also the drum parts for a large portion of the songs on the Tim "Ripper" Owens solo album " Play my Game" ( 2009).

In his spare time, Wright likes to play darts.
