Simone Opitz

Simone Opitz ( born July 3, 1963 in Sonneberg ) is a former German cross-country skier, who participated in international competitions 1985-1993. The starting for the SC motor Zella-Mehlis athlete achieved their best results over the longer distances in the free technique.

Sporting career

1985 Opitz first appeared at a World Cup competition. In Klingenthal she took over the 10 kilometers down the 18th. A week later she was able to place distance among the top ten in the Soviet Syktyvkar over the 20 kilometers. A year later celebrated Opitz at the triple success of the GDR in French Les Saisies 10-kilometer freestyle behind Gaby Nestler and Carola Jacob their first podium finish and then won the World Cup 20-kilometer freestyle in the Czech Nove Mesto na Moravě before her compatriot Gaby Nestler and Norwegian Marianne Dahlmo.
