Simoom

Simoom is the local term for a sand storm in the North African- Arab region. Dating from the Arabic word literally means poison wind. This already points to the danger that is being given to this kind of sandstorm. The simoom is dust- laden part and a very hot desert wind. Often at the warm front atlantic low pressure blowing hot desert air from the Sahara northwards, towards the Mediterranean. If the current is strong enough, it can develop on, a hot dust storm.

Most blowing a simoom from the west and occurs most frequently in the spring to early summer before.
