Simosuchus

Simosuchus, live reconstruction

Simosuchus clarkii is a one meter long, crocodile -like reptile from the Upper Cretaceous of Madagascar. The remains of Simosuchus were found in the Maevarano formation in the northwest of Madagascar in 1998.

He had an unusually short and high skull. In the blunt snout mehrspitzige, like cloves shaped teeth that allow a plant or omnivores were close.

Due to some common synapomorphies one assumes a relationship with Uruguaysuchus ( Notosuchidae ) from the Upper Cretaceous of South America.
