Simplon Valley

The Val Divedro is a cross-border valley south of the Alps.

Geography

It extends from the summit of the Simplon pass across the Italian border to Varzo. At the end of the valley is Crevola d' Ossola. The river, which is the valley of the name, ie Doveria. The Doveria means to Gstein - Gabi still Chrummenbach, at said place is the unofficial language border. The valley is dominated especially in the Gondo gorge and Demoiselle by rugged, up to 1900m high mountains. The valley is between Gstein - Gabi and Demoiselle follows narrow that only the Simplon pass road and the Doveria find place. The pass goes through here right through the village. Climate and Nature

On the Italian side thrive chestnut, palm trees and occasionally vines. The river and its flat polished stones reminiscent of the Maggia Valley in Ticino.
