Simpulum

The simpulum (also Simpuvium or Simpuium ) is in the Roman religion a ladle, primarily from ceramics, some of which served the Roman priests and the Vestal Virgins to pour the wine on the sacrificial bowl with the victim.

It is an archaic device. In daily life was for the purpose of Greek Kyathos use.

As part of the priestly equipment was often depicted on coins, to indicate the relationship of the minting authority to the state cult.
