Single Channel Simulcast

As simulcast method is called the simultaneous transmission of an analog amplitude modulated and one after the Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM ) - method the transmitted signal in the same ( single channel simulcast - SCS ) or an adjacent channel (multichannel simulcast - MCS).

For this purpose, the DRM signal is modulated to the carrier by the method of quadrature modulation, and then modulates the analog signal on this signal, the conventional amplitude modulation or single sideband AM compatible can be used, depending on the available bandwidth. The simulcast technique has the advantage that the signal is of old AM receivers can be received with respect to the pure DRM method.

However, this method has over pure DRM method the disadvantage of poorer transmission quality, and also at the reception with conventional AM radios may occur to a greater noise than in a pure AM transmitter reception.
