Singles, Puy-de-Dôme

Singles is a commune of 166 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region. It belongs to the community association Sancy Artense Communauté.

Geography

Singles is located three kilometers north of Larodde, 18 kilometers east of Ussel and 17 kilometers west of La Bourboule. The Dordogne flows through the municipal area.

History

Singles was mentioned at the end of the 11th century for the first time, it belonged to the priory of Sauxillanges. In 1356, the then- Seigneur of singles in the battle of Maupertuis was captured and brought with Jean II to England. 1682 Louis XIV allowed the establishment of lead mines.

Culture and sights

The church of Saint -Nazaire is dedicated to St. Nazario. Choir and nave were built in the late 12th century. In the 16th century a door to the south was built to the cemetery. The bell tower was rebuilt in the 19th century. In the church there is a damaged statue of Jean Baptiste de La Salle (1651-1719), from the 18th century. It is made of painted wood. The statue is classified as a monument historique since 1982 ( historical monument ).

Economy

The image of the church is dominated by willows. La sablière you Bachou is a sand pit in singles. An important branch of industry is the breeding of domestic animals.
