According to the principle of one country, two systems, which was concluded between Great Britain and the People's Republic of China, the socialist system, which stands for the People's Republic of China, will not apply to Hong Kong, but Hong Kong is a special administrative region in which for the next 50 years, the will remain with previous capitalist system of the city and the " way of life" of residents of Hong Kong.

The Joint Declaration ensures that this political approach is contractually fixed in the Basic Law of Hong Kong.
