Sinovel

Sinovel Wind Group Company (Chinese中文:华 锐 风 电) is the largest manufacturer of wind turbines in the People's Republic of China and in 2011 was 9% share of the international market, the second largest company in the world in the wind energy industry. It is 50% owned by the Chinese government, which provided a bank loan of 6.5 billion U.S. dollars. The shares have since January 13, 2011 as A-share listed on the stock exchange in Shanghai (stock code: 601 558 ).

History

In July 2010, the first Chinese offshore wind farm was near the bridge Donghai Daqiao in operation. This wind farm consists of 34 turbines from Sinovel with a capacity of 3 MW each, has a total capacity of 102 MW and can supply 200,000 households with electricity.

In December 2010, a 1.5 MW turbine was commissioned for the public water supply in Massachusetts. The price of the turbine is 50 % of the cost of the overall project in the amount of 4.7 million U.S. dollars, in which a sewage pump with electrical energy is to be operated from wind power.

Sinovel announced in 2010 as a corporate goal by 2015 to become the largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world, with 50 % of sales to be achieved abroad. By the end of 2011, the company had wind turbines with a capacity of around 13 GW installed worldwide.

Products

The company offers wind turbines with a capacity of 1.5 MW ( SL1500 ) to 6 MW ( SL6000 ). Their flagship product is the SL1500, which is offered at a nominal power of 1.5 MW with rotor diameters of 70, 77 and 82 meters and a hub height of 65 meters to 100 meters. With the SL3000/113 still exists a system that is suitable for both onshore and offshore operations. The SL6000 is designed for offshore wind farms.

Industrial espionage

The company American Superconductor ( AMSC ) had developed a program to control the turbines. The source code of this program was delivered by a member of the Austrian subsidiary, AMSC WindTec in Carinthia Sinovel. This employee had let in the opinion of the district court in Klagenfurt recruited by Sinovel and was sentenced in September 2011 to 200,000 euros in damages.

On 27 June 2013, the Ministry of Justice of the United States announced that Sinovel Corporation and three persons way of theft of trade secrets would be indicted. Following the announcement, the market capitalization of the stock fell by 1 billion U.S. dollars and in due course the listing of Sinovel on the stock exchanges of Hong Kong and Shanghai was suspended. The company's offices in the United States, Belgium, Canada and Italy are to be closed.
