SIPA S.1000 Coccinelle

History and construction

The Coccinelle was designed by Yves Gardan for SIPA as simply constructed all-metal training aircraft for the French Aero Club. It was a two-seat low-wing monoplane with fixed tricycle landing gear and adjacent seats. In order to keep production costs low, and standard automotive parts were used. The prototype first flew on 11 June 1955. Serial production was planned for 1956, but except for the prototype only two other machines were built.
