Sirp

Sirp (Estonian for sickle ) is the only Estonian culture newspaper. It is politically independent. The editorial office is located in Tallinn.

Sirp appears every Friday in an edition of 4,900 copies. It reaches about 14,000 readers. The newspaper is printed only in black and white. Main topics are the headings theater, cinema, music, art, literature and society.

Publisher of Sirp is the Foundation Culture Newspaper ( Sihtasutus Kultuurileht ). Chief editor of the newspaper is Ott Karulin.

Sirp is the successor publication of the newspaper culture Sirp yes Vasar ( " sickle and hammer "), which was the official organ of the Soviet culture Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic until the end of communist rule in Estonia. From July 1989 until the end of 1990, the magazine was published under the name Reede ( "Friday" ).
