Sisters Love

The Sisters Love were an American soul and funk group. The group consisted of the four singers Lillie Fort, Gwendolyn Berry, Merry Clayton (1969 replaced by Jeannie Long) and Vermettya Boyster.

History

The Sisters Love 1968 went forth from the group The Raelets, which had been founded in 1956 by Ray Charles as a backing group. Their first single "This Time Tomorrow / I Know You Love Me " was released in 1968 on the small record label Manchild in Los Angeles.

Then the group was discovered for the young label A & M Records, and received a recording contract. Between 1969 and 1972 published The Sisters Love there a number of soul / funk singles and had in 1971 with "Are You Lonely / Ring Once" their biggest U.S. hit.

As at that time the only black group at A & M they were by their record company soon frustrated and switched to Motown in 1972. All singles for Motown took The Sisters Love on the MoWest Hollywood studios and published them on the same sub- label of Motown. In 1973 she went as an opening act for The Jackson Five on a world tour.

After Motown Records in 1972 moved his headquarters from Detroit to Los Angeles, the sub label MoWest became redundant and closed down in 1973. A number of previously announced LPs could not therefore appear, including an album by The Sisters Love, which is to this day on ice. The last singles were " My Love Is Yours / You ' ve Got My Mind" and published only in the UK " I'm learning to trust my man" before disintegrated The Sisters Love 1973.

Since the group released only singles are paid for today's high collector prices, The Sisters Love was the great success during his lifetime denied. The Rare Groove Soul Jazz Records label in 2006 published the singles compilation " Give Me Your Love" with 16 pieces of the group.

Give Me Your Love

The early eighties, published the New York DJ Danny Krivit an eight-minute remix of the piece and making him a wider Disco and Rare Groove audience known. The original version later appeared on various Rare Groove and Deep Funk compilations. Released in 2000, Robbie Williams / Kylie Minogue duet "Kids" is essentially based on a sample of "Give Me Your Love".

The Sisters Love the piece originally published in 1973 as the B- side of their Motown single, " ( I Could Never Make ) A Better Man Than You". On the promo single for DJs, the piece was missing, so it was not a hit at first. "Give Me Your Love" was originally written by Curtis Mayfield and published in 1972 on the soundtrack of the blaxploitation film Superfly.
