The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth (Latin: Congregation Sororum Sacrae Familiae de Nazareth, English:. History

The Polish nun Franciszka Siedliska ( religious name Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd ) initiated in 1873 by Pope Pius IX in an inquiry. the establishment of a sister congregation. Two years later (1875 ) she founded in Rome the " Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth ." With her and 11 other nuns, it established in 1885, the first branch in the United States. The sisters met on July 4, 1885 in Chicago and began their work. In Chicago, they took care of a parish, which consisted of immigrant Italians. The sisters took over work in the community care, pastoral care for immigrants, the education and built a health service on.

Organization
