Sittersdorf ( slovenian Žitara vas ) is a location in Carinthia in the District Peoples Market bilingual municipality with 2047 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography Location

The community Sitter village lies on the southern edge of the Jaunfelds and the northern foothills of the Karawanken. The main town Sitter village is situated about ten miles as the crow line of the Austrian-Slovenian border. The municipality is crossed by the Vellach and the search Abach. The largest standing waters are the Gösselsdorfer the artificially created Sonnegger lake.

History

The Church of St. Helena in 1154 Sitter village was first mentioned. Coat of arms

The coat of arms of Sitter village has the following blazon: " two tier plate, front in red a silver wine grape, behind in gold, a black eagle wings floating. Economy and infrastructure

The main industry in the municipality is still agriculture, even if the (lakes ) tourism has grown in importance since the second half of the 20th century. Of importance in the village is the glass tile manufacturer VILLIglas and the Solida Marsum Bekleidungswerke.

Through the municipal area into a north-south direction, the Seebergstraße B 82, B 81 Bleiburger road branches off from the sitter in the village to the east.
