Six60

Six60 is a fusion New Zealand rock band from Dunedin, who mix their music, among others, with drum and bass and reggae.

Band History

Matiu Walters and James Fraser went to Dunedin in 2005, to study music. They joined together with three other musicians and eventually formed the band Six60, named after the number of their shared apartment in 660 Castle Street.

Their first EP with seven titles came in 2008. They took with Campbell Smith of the RIANZ a professional manager who gave them a record deal with Universal. In August 2010, there appeared her debut single Rise Up 2.0 that went immediately to number 5. However, it took a second start-up at the end, so the song rose in January 2011 to No. 1. With the second single Do not Forget Your Roots could it confirm the success of the summer and reached for two weeks at No. 2 The first single reached platinum the second even double - platinum status.

Your named after the band's debut album was released in October 2011 and immediately jumped to the top of the New Zealand charts. Over a year it stopped in the charts and has been awarded 3 times platinum.
