Sixtinus Amama

Sixtinus Amama ( born October 13, 1593 in Franeker, † November 9, 1639 ) was a Dutch Reformed theologian and orientalist.

Life

Sixtinus Amama was born on 13 October 1593 in Franeker, a town in the Dutch province of Friesland. He studied from 1610 at the University of Franeker Oriental Languages ​​and later at the University of Oxford. From 1614 he studied Arabic at the University of Leiden. In 1616 he was at the University of Franeker professor of literature and oriental languages ​​, however, before he was examined because he was suspected of Arianism.
