Sizihwan

The bay Xiziwan, also Sizihwan, (Chinese西子 湾, Pinyin Xīzǐwān, Tongyong Pinyin Sizǐhwan, PEH oē - jī Se -á - OAN ) is located on the southwestern coast of the city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan. She is known a popular destination, especially for picturesque sunsets.

Location

Xiziwan located in the southwestern district of Kaohsiung City Gushan on the coast of the Taiwan Strait. The bay is bordered to the south immediately to the northern entrance of the port of Kaohsiung. On the opposite side of the harbor entrance, the 48 m high northern tip of the island Qijin rises with its lighthouse. At the northern section of the bay is the campus of Sun Yat-sen National University, in the northeast and east of the bay are the mountains Shou Shan and its foothills. Xiziwan is linked by a highway with the city center and a shuttle bus to the station Xiziwan Kaohsiunger the subway.

Leisure and Tourism

Even during the Japanese rule over Taiwan Xiziwan the bay was known for its charming landscape and a favorite destination. Thus, the still existing seaside resort was opened on the beach in the year 1916. 1923 Japan's Crown Prince paid and later Emperor Hirohito of the bay a visit.

Its touristic reputation Xiziwans is unbroken to this day and has accelerated in recent years. On the waterfront enjoy extended in 2012 to both the citizens of Kaohsiung as well as guests from outside the view of the sea and the numerous intersecting or entering the port of Kaohsiung on the horizon ships. Main attraction and popular photo object is the here observed picturesque sunset, which also attracts couples. In addition, quite a few newlyweds come to make romantic backdrop photos in their wedding clothes. At the small sandy beach of the bay, where you can also swim in the summer, there is a restaurant with rooms. On the dikes of the bay you can see many anglers fishing despite the ban.

On a hill near the coast are as other attractions, built from red brick former British consulate in Takao (built 1865), now used as a restaurant with a view, and the Taoist Temple of the 18 men (Ch十八 王公庙Shiba Wanggong Miao ). Further north, on the grounds of Sun Yat -sen University, you can also visit Chiang Kai- shek, the beach house and a limousine of former President of the Republic of China.

On the road to the bay a Car was built. In particular, with tourists from China Xiziwan very popular. According to Taiwanese Ministry of Transport ( tourism department ) was Sizihwan in 2010 behind the Sun Moon Lake Taipei 101 and the third most popular destination of Chinese tourists in Taiwan and was thus even before the highly renowned Palace Museum Taipei.
