Sjunkhatten-Nationalpark

The Sjunkhatten National Park (Norwegian Sjunkhatten nasjonalpark, Sami Dávga suoddjimpárkka ) is a Norwegian national park. He belongs to the municipalities Bodo, Fauske and Sørfold in the province of Nordland. The park covers an area of 418 square kilometers and was established on February 5, 2010, to this large, unspoilt area with its ecosystems and landscapes to Get and Protect.

Geography, landscape and geology

The landscape is characterized by the erosion of glaciers, so that today's landscape with sharp peaks, rounded mountains, valleys and moraines formed. In addition, the park has many rivers and lakes. In the mountains in Sjunkhatten there are an unusual number of caves.

Flora and Fauna

In the park there are some rare animal and plant species, of which 18 are on the Red List.

Use

The park serves many farmers as grazing land for their animals. So large grazing sheep and reindeer herds in the park.
