Ska Keller

Franziska Maria " Ska " Keller ( born November 22, 1981 in Guben ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90/The Greens ). She was 2007-2009 chairman of the green state association Brandenburg. Since 2009 she is a member of the European Parliament.

Life

Ska Keller studied Islamic, Turkish and Jewish Studies at the Free University of Berlin and the Sabancı University in Istanbul. She graduated in 2009 with a master's from. Keller is married to the Finnish activists Markus Drake, with whom she lives in Brussels. She speaks three languages ​​in addition to German: English, French, Spanish and some Turkish and Arabic minimal.

Policy

Since 2001 she has been a member of the Young Greens and was from 2001 to 2004 in the National Executive Committee member. From 2005 to 2007 Keller was spokeswoman for the Association of Young European Green.

In 2002, she joined the party of Alliance 90/The Greens and was a member of the State Executive Committee of Brandenburg since 2005. Between 2005 and 2009 she was also executive director of the Green District Association Spree- Neisse. In November 2007 she was elected together with Axel bird to one of two co-CEOs of the Brandenburg countryside. In this office she was particularly involved in a nationwide referendum against new opencast mines in Brandenburg, which was initiated jointly by the parties and environmental organizations.

From the Federal Delegates Meeting in Dortmund 2009 Keller was elected on list # 7 on the European election list of the countryside. Keller was elected in January 2014 as the top candidate of the European Green Party in the European elections in 2014 and leads the European Greens thus together with the Frenchman José Bové in the election campaign. This is the result of the "Green Primaries ", the primary election, which was only used on the Internet. Of the votes cast Keller received 11 791 votes, with 11 726 Bové barely less. This was followed by Rebecca Harms 8170 and Monica Frassoni with 5851 votes.
