Skagen Designs

Skagen Designs is a Danish company that designer watches, jewelry and sunglasses manufactures. The company was founded in 1989. Besides its headquarters in the U.S. Reno, Nevada, further companies headquarters are located in the Albert Lund Municipality near Copenhagen in Denmark and Hong Kong.

The company was founded by Henrik and Charlotte Jorst, a Danish couple who for professional reasons in 1986 moved to New York, as Henrik Jorst U.S. sales manager of the Danish brewery Carlsberg. In 1989, the couple his own business, initially selling products of various Danish watchmaker, among other watches of the famous designer Jacob Jensen, who is mainly known for his work for Bang & Olufsen.

From the early 1990s it began to manufacture their own watches. After the presentation of different models on the New York and Premium Incentive Show in the spring of 1991, the Jorsts sold the watches for the first time under the name Skagen Denmark, named after the northern Danish fishing and holiday resort Skagen. The logo refers to the meeting of the waves of the North Sea and Baltic Sea on the coast of the town. In the following years, sales went up in the air. 1998 first stores were opened in Denmark. A year later, the sales began in the United Kingdom and Germany. After the European market has been opened up, we began selling in Asia and Australia. Skagen Designs has since developed into a world- based businesses.

Mid- January 2012 was the American (on the design, production, marketing and distribution of fashion accessories specialized ) companies Fossil announced that it take Skagen and some of its subsidiaries for approximately 225 million U.S. dollars ( 175 million euros ) will. In return Skagen receives 150,000 Fossil shares of common stock.
