Skalla-Grímr

Skallagrímurs brother Thorolf Kveldúlfsson was a bodyguard of the Norwegian king Haraldr hárfagri and had distinguished himself in battle in Hafrsfjord. After disagreements with King Harald of Thorolf was killed. Skallagrímur then left with his entire family in Norway.

Since Skallagrímur was a friend of Ingólfur Arnarson, he had heard from his trip to Iceland. Skallagrímur and his father Kveld ULF then traveled, each in his own ship, to Iceland. Kveld - Ulf died on the arduous journey. His coffin was thrown overboard and drifted into the Bay of Borgarnes. Skallagrímur followed the coffin and sat in Borgarnes down.

The following verse is Skallagrímur attributed. With their continuous end rhymes, it provides a special dar. Endreime diving in the Nordic skaldic first time to his writing of Skallagrímurs son Egill Skallagrímsson poem Höfuðlausn on. Egill was influenced by England, where Endreime were to be found in Latin poetry. It is conceivable that Skallagrímur introduced the Endreime in the Nordic skaldic poetry. He understood it perfectly to make verses, and Egill could have inherited his talent; credible, however, seems that Egill has put his father in later stories the verse in the mouth.
