Skalunda

Skalunda is a Swedish church village on the peninsula Kalland, which protrudes from the south in Lake Vänern. It is located about ten kilometers northwest of the city of Lidköping.

Skalunda was a regional center in the early era and the Middle Ages. This is indicated in particular that, with a diameter of about 60 meters and a height of seven meters, the largest hill grave Västergötlands out. It is dated on the finds in the 8th century. In the Middle Ages was in Skalunda a royal court and the medieval church of Skalunda points to the importance of place.
