Skandinaviska Banken

Skandinaviska banks, translated Scandinavian bank, was a Swedish bank, founded in 1864 in Gothenburg.

Its foundation was unite in connection with the political aspirations of Scandinavia, ie Sweden, Norway and Denmark to unite into one kingdom. As this did not happen, the bank was due to the Scandinavian Monetary Union ( → crown ) and to be prepared for a possible association of Sweden and Norway, yet exist.

The original name was the bank Skandinaviska Kreditaktiebolaget, and was later changed to Skandinávská banks. Even if was used in the Scandinavian name, it was actually a Swedish bank.

1910, the Bank increased by the merger with Skåne Enskilda Bank in the first row of the Swedish banks. The Skåne Enskilda Bank was already founded in 1831 as a private central bank.

The banks had Skandinaviska 1945 1.770 employees working in 135 branches.
