Skate sailing

Windskating (including land surfing ) is the transfer of the sport windsurfing from water to the land. A sport in which Surfrigg ( sail, mast, boom) is mounted on a longboard or Allterrainboard, which travels with wheels. On the board standing the energy of the wind with the sail is used for locomotion.

For a movement similar to planing windsurfing in the water much less wind is needed as on the water, because the rolling resistance is very low. From 3 winds (Bft ) is an ideal driving with sail sizes of approximately 4.7 m - 5.5 m possible.

To change direction many types of tacking and gybing can be performed. The tricks and maneuvers with the sails are much easier to learn than on the water windsurfing.

Driving technique

How windsurfing bringing the sail depending on the course in certain position to the wind to generate propulsion.

The direction changing customary exclusively by foot control, such as when driving with a longboard. Similarly, as in windsurfing planing.

Tacking and gybing can be driven in different game types, the classical turning point is not actually driven as on the water windsurfing. Tacking and jibing are easier to drive than windsurfing, since one hardly loses speed when maneuvering through the rollers. Many maneuvers of windsurfing as Duck Jibe, Heli Tack, Push Tack, Duck Tack, Conca Tack, 360mm also available in versions with Clew First ( boom end forward), Switch Stance ( feet are in the other direction ) have to learn pretty quickly. Also some tricks from a skateboard or longboard range with the board are possible such as Slides or Fold of the board on the nose, jumps around the pole, jumps, while the sail is flying on the board in the wind.

Supplies and Accessories

Board

For driving on asphalt to Longboards are with a center distance of 1m or longer. The board should be relatively wide at the foot positions to steer well can. For some advanced tricks require the board nose or tail. These are standing on the axis also possibly slightly upturned ends of the board.

For driving on grass or other rough ground Allterrainboards be used.

Axes

The axes determine the steering, steering radius, and in part the height of the board above the asphalt. You may also be responsible for the roll at higher speeds. It can drop-in to use axes top mount and drop-through or.

The axes should be so wide that the roles are barely over the board edge. Otherwise, it may happen that one pushes into the hacking when stopping or push the rear wheel. This also happened to arrange Allterrainboards.

Roll

The size must be adapted to the design of the board and the width of the axis, so that no Wheelbite occurs ( grinding of the roller on the board with a narrow curve). The hardness and shape of the roller depends on the preferred style of driving. For straight runs at high speeds "grip rollers " are most often used, they are made of a softer polyurethane mixture. For tricks with scripts, you can use Slide roles, these are made of a harder polyurethane mixture, this and the adapted form of the roles makes it easier to glide over the ground. when Sliden make sure the rollers while continuing to keep moving so no flat spots in the rollers are ground.

Rigging

Under the rig is defined as the total unit from mast, mast cup or mast extension, boom and sail. This equipment you take over from windsurfing. Mature, robust material is well suited for use on the asphalt.

The rig can either be screwed to the mast foot to the longboard, or it is directly the Power Joint bolted to the longboard. In both cases, a hole for a screw M8 must be drilled into the longboard. The best so that the screw or nut easily fits directly behind the front axle behind the axle. Alternatively, a thread is pressed into the board.
