Skeleton at the 2002 Winter Olympics

In the XIX. 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City were two competitions held in skeleton ( the first time since 1948). Venue was the Utah Olympic Park.

The length of the distance was 1,200 m with a height difference of 91 m. It contained 13 curves.

One men

Date: February 20, 2002 On the start were 26 athletes from 19 nations. . Jim Shea was the first Olympic champion of the sport since 1948., He laid the foundation for victory in the first of two passes. In the second round the two other medalists Martin Rettl and Gregor Stähli were at the same time before Shea.

One women

Date: February 20, 2002 On the start were 13 athletes from ten nations. . Tristan Gale was the first Olympic champion in the sport of skeleton at all. After the first run, in which they posted the fastest time, it resulted in only a hundredth of a second ahead of Lea Ann Parsley. In the second passage Gale drove the fastest times.
